International women’s Day; South Africa focus on environmental safety
The South African Police Service is hosting a Learning Environment Safety Consultative Summit in partnership with the Department of Basic Education, Department of Higher Education and Training; and in collaboration with social partners.

The need to develop a strategic response to the safety and security concerns within institutions of learning was also elicited in the Turn Around Vision of the South African Police Service as presented to Cabinet.
The ever increasing involvement of young people in criminal activities, both at schools and tertiary institutions, remains a call for concern.
The Summit is convened to address safety concerns of learners, students, educators, lecturers, college and university communities.

The Summit will be hosted on 08 and 09 March 2022 in Mbombela and the programme will comprise of brief presentations on the various thematic areas to be consulted upon after the formal openings. The inputs will be consolidated by the facilitation team and consequently be reconciled into a draft strategy which will be presented to the principals and functionaries at the end of the summit.
