The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that NECA is the foremost business membership organization of employers in the Organised Private Sector of Nigeria.
A statement by Festus Daniel, the NISCN President and made available to NAN on Tuesday said the comprehensive training had been designed to equip participants with skills on key aspects of occupational safety and health and the critical tools required for workers to contribute to overall safety at work.
“According to verified statistics, every year 2.78 million workers die from occupational accident work-related diseases (of which 2.4 million are disease-related) and an additional 374 million workers suffer from non-fatal occupational accidents in the world.
“Aside from the economic cost, there is an intangible cost, not fully recognised in these figures, of the immeasurable human suffering caused by poor Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) conditions.
“In the 110th session of the International Labour Conference (ILO) , held in Geneva, Switzerland, June 2022, with about 187 nations including Nigeria, OSH was adopted as a Core Convention of the ILO and a Fundamental Right and Principle at work.
“Investing in the safety of the workplace is therefore necessary to reduce costs linked to injuries, absenteeism, loss of productivity, etc.
“Companies that ensure that there workforce is safe and healthy enjoy higher level of worker engagement, motivation, and overall better productivity.
“This training is therefore very important as it will equip participants with skills on key aspects of occupational safety and health and the critical tools required for workers to contribute to overall safety at work,” Daniel said.
He noted that the two-day training which very rich both in scope and content has been scheduled to hold at the NECA House in Lagos from Aug. 11 to Aug. 12, 2022.
The NISCN boss added that the Course fee for NECA and NISCN members was ₦75,000 and ₦80,000 for non-members respectively.
