Waec office fire incident, nobody was hurt: Public Affairs Unit

 

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) in Yaba, Lagos, Nigeria is said to have faced some fire incident today, and another building at Onipanu was also said to have been involved.

Few workers, who resumed at WAEC as early as 7:30am were already in their offices before the fire ignited.

 

What led to the fire incident has not been found out but some officials attributed it to an electrical surge.

Some of the workers, it was learnt, were injured in the process of escaping from the building.

 

Emergency responders have been mobilised to the scene.

News had it that residents and neighbours are still battling to put out the fire outbreak at Olukemi Kayode Street, at Onipanu.

Reacting to the development in a telephone conversation, the Acting Head of the Public Affairs Unit of WAEC, Moyosola Adesina, said the situation was under control.

 

Mrs Adesina said no one was hurt and that everyone in the building was successfully evacuated by fire fighters.

 

She said; “Yes, the fire outbreak was noticed at the headquarters this morning and the fire fighters were quickly invited.
