Lagos State is taking a big step to make homes and workplaces safer by supporting Paddie—a new safety app created by Safety Plus Nigeria. Launched during the 2025 World Day for Safety and Health at Work, Paddie is quickly becoming a trusted tool to help people stay safe, avoid accidents, and learn simple tips that can save lives.
Designed as a 360-degree safety solution, Paddie offers real-time tips, multilingual safety nuggets, and hazard reporting features, making it accessible and useful for individuals across various social classes and industries. Whether in homes, offices, or public environments, the app delivers weekly safety advice via WhatsApp and social media, helping users recognize potential dangers before they escalate.
According to Mr. Seun Awojobi, Technical Adviser to the Lagos State Safety Commission, the app fits seamlessly into the state’s broader mandate of safeguarding lives and property. “Our goal is to educate and engage the public using technology. Paddie helps us extend safety messages to more Lagosians in a relatable, timely, and proactive manner,” he said.
In collaboration with Safety Plus Nigeria, the commission is tailoring the app’s content to address sector-specific risks—especially in high-risk industries such as construction, hospitality, and manufacturing. This effort aligns with Lagos’ reputation as the only state in Nigeria with a fully operational safety commission and an expanding regulatory framework supported by comprehensive data tracking.

Dominga Odebunmi, CEO of Safety Plus and developer of Paddie, emphasized the urgency of integrating safety into the operational DNA of organisations. “Too many businesses still operate without dedicated safety departments, putting lives at risk. Paddie seeks to close this gap by educating and empowering the public,” she said.
The Commission also announced a forthcoming conference to deepen conversations on digital safety innovations and regulatory compliance, reinforcing its commitment to a safer, healthier Lagos.
