The Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers (NISafetyE), a prominent division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, has joined the list of high-impact sponsors for the Africa Safety Awards for Excellence (AfriSAFE) 2025. This landmark partnership highlights the growing influence of professional engineering institutions in shaping safety narratives across the continent.
NISafetyE was formally established on February 11, 2016, by the Nigerian Society of Engineers following the vision of Engr. Azuka B. Emeasoba FNSE and Engr. Adeyemi B. Oyedepo FNSE. The body was conceptualised in 2014 and gained full approval through the efforts of the then NSE Deputy President, Engr. Otis Anyaeji FNSE, FAS. Since then, NISafetyE has carved a niche for itself in championing the principles of safety engineering, both locally and internationally.
The institution is renowned for offering a range of capacity-building programs designed to reduce workplace risks and promote a safer working environment. These include physical and virtual workshops, technical sessions on Safety, Health, Environment, and Sustainability (SHES), and certifications in key safety management practices. These initiatives are aimed at enhancing the competence of engineers, safety professionals, and organisations in maintaining high safety standards.
NISafetyE’s influence is driven by the strategic leadership of its National Chairman, Engr. Oluseun Faluyi FNISafetyE, MNSE—a COREN-registered engineer and graduate of Harvard Business School’s Owner/President Management Program. Engr. Faluyi holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, alongside an MBA in Operations Management and Marketing. He also serves as a Fellow of both the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers and the Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers.
