In Ogbomoso, Oyo State, at least six stores were damaged by fire, destroying properties valued at millions of Naira.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, six from ten of the area’s locked-up stores were impacted by the fire that broke out on Thursday in Ile-Ewe, Sawmill Area, Ogbomoso.
In a statement released in Ibadan on Friday, Aug 1, Mr. Maroof Akinwande, the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, acknowledged the occurrence.
Akinwande claims that at precisely 14:08 on Thursday, a man named Mr. David Ajagbe called the agency’s staff in concern over the fire event.
According to Akinwande, the agency’s staff, under the direction of CFS Dairo, departed right away and got there on schedule.
Six out of ten locked-up businesses were fully alight when we arrived on the scene.
We promptly used our equipment and were able to stop the fire from spreading to other stores and neighboring buildings.
The chairman said, “The fire service was able to save millions of properties, and properties worth millions of Naira were affected by the fire.”
He went on to say that no casualties were reported as the reason of the fire event was being investigated.
