Lagos Fire Service Rescues Four Children and Two Adults in Separate Incidents

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed the rescue of four children and two adults following two separate emergency incidents recorded in Lekki and Apapa on Sunday, December 28, 2025.

The statement was issued to HSENations and signed by Margaret Adeseye, Controller-General, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, and dated December 28, 2025.

The Service said it “received a distress call at 14:31 hours, following which the Oniru Fire Station was immediately dispatched to the scene” at No. 1, Wole Olateju Crescent, Kingshisha, Lekki Phase 1, off Admiralty Road, within Eti-Osa Local Government Area.

According to the official statement, the incident involved “a Lexus RX 300 Jeep with registration number GGE 750BM,” which reportedly lost control while overspeeding.

The Fire Service stated that “the vehicle (Lexus Jeep), while allegedly speeding, lost control and ran into five male children aged between 8 and 13 years who were at the gate of the above-mentioned address.”

It added that “four of the victims were rescued alive but sustained severe injuries and were subsequently conveyed to an undisclosed hospital by sympathisers,” while “one male child, aged nine years, was suspected dead at the scene.”

The statement further disclosed that “the affected vehicle was later evacuated by a private towing company with registration number GGE 812HX and taken to Maroko Police Station,” noting that officers from the Maroko Police Division were present and took over the scene.

In a related incident later the same day, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service said the Ajegunle Fire Station received a distress call at approximately 16:47 hours concerning a broken-down fuel tanker opposite Eco Bank, Army Barracks, Apapa.

According to the statement, “on arrival, it was discovered that two adult males were trapped inside the tanker while carrying out repair work.”

The Service said emergency personnel “promptly commenced rescue operations and successfully extricated the two victims alive,” adding that “both rescued individuals were immediately handed over to medical responders and conveyed to a hospital for further treatment.”
