The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos State Command Olusegun Ogungbemide, has confirmed that a commercial bus was engulfed by fire on the Third Mainland Bridge on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident was said to have occurred at about 2 pm, at Adekunle outward Third Mainland Bridge.
One lane has been opened for vehicles to reduce the backlog of traffic.

Meanwhile, HSENations reports that there is an ongoing partial lockdown at Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos, both the federal and state governments have asked Lagosians who ply the bridge to cooperate with the agencies that will be taking on the rehabilitation of the bridge.

Speaking on the closure, the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos State, Olukayode Popoola, said that the government was implementing vital protocols to mitigate the clog of vehicular traffic on the bridge.
He added that traffic would be diverted in two phases during the period of the maintenance.
