AfriSAFE, First Aid Services partner to empower 200 school students on First Aid in Lagos

Africa’s leading safety advocacy organization, AfriSAFE has partnered with frontline safety training provider, First Aid Services Nigeria to train more than 200 secondary school students on critical first aid and emergency response skills in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial nerve center.

Billed for Thursday, November 27, the one-day intensive training targets students and other members of the public who often serve as the first responders in emergencies within their schools, homes and neighborhoods.

By equipping participants with practical, hands-on skills, the initiative aims to bridge the gap in emergency preparedness in communities and among demographics where access to formal safety training is limited.

The training will cover key topics, including basic and advanced first aid techniques; cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR); management of choking, bleeding, burns, fractures, and poisoning; and emergency scene management and patient assessment

Participants who successfully complete the training will receive participation certificates issued by First Aid Services Nigeria, an accredited and reputable training organization with extensive experience delivering life-saving programs across the nation and beyond.

Chief Executive Officer of AfriSAFE, Femi Da-silva said the initiative is in furtherance of the organization’s commitment to raising safety awareness in Africa’s informal sector, through training targeted at artisans, community leaders, students, widows, among others.

He disclosed that AfriSAFE spearheaded a similar training for 500 artisans in Lusaka, Zambia on October 22, 2024, and another for widows, artisans in Mombasa, Kenya, on November 12, 2025.

Da-silva said, “Safety is a fundamental human right, yet millions in the informal sector and ironically in the education sector lack the knowledge to respond effectively when emergencies strike. This collaboration with First Aid Services Nigeria is a deliberate step toward building a safer, more resilient Africa.”
