This newspaper can reliably report that Onwuemene was heading to work in his green Honda car when a trailer fell from the Ojuelegba bridge and crushed his vehicle.
This reporter learnt from members of the family that the victim would have been 52 years old on April 20.
Until his demise, Onwuemene single-handedly took care of his three sons, having lost his wife three years ago, it was reliably gathered.

In an earlier interview with this reporter, the victim’s elder sister, Benedicta Onwuemene, called on the Lagos State Government to put a stop to frequent accidents involving trailers falling from the Ojuelegba bridge.
“These senseless deaths. Avoidable deaths. It is not the first, second, third nor fourth time on that same spot in Ojuelegba, for crying out loud. It is because it does not concern their own families. That’s why the government is not doing anything about it. I am grieving. My heart is broken (weeping). Go and see my eldest sister. My mum has us nine. He was my mum’s fifth child. Now we’re eight because of the Nigerian government’s negligence and insensitivity,” she said.
