At about 10 am, on Friday, 19th June 2020, some members of the Ikosi Isheri cell visited the site of the collapsed building.
The area designated as Unity Estate is not within the Magodo scheme 1, rather a deep valley behind the scheme that channels drainage water from that part of the estate.
All the houses along the line of the collapsed building have been sealed up by LASBCA on arrival.

From preliminary assessment, the collapsed buildings were actually two bungalows next to each other but built right in the valley, without the guidance of professional expertise and input.
The effect of the last two days rainfall had pulled down the fence of a house in the Magodo Phase 1 and it was the impact of this fence that collapsed these two buildings in the valley.
A preliminary site investigation conducted further revealed the following;
(1) The government should not have approved the land for buildings, giving the quality of the land. It is indeed a big valley behind the Magodo scheme and that it collects drainage water while the area is hardly accessible.
(2) The collapsed buildings do not have government approvals and built outside professional standards.
(3) Residents of the other sealed buildings along the line of the collapsed buildings do not intend to vacate their properties and care less about their safety.
